World of Make Believe Stylus

Aussie band Stylus were way ahead of their time. With a strong R&B pop style, they recorded several albums, were signed to the biggest record label of the time - Motown, and were regular fixtures on our tv screens and airplay rotation lists, with their friendly Middle of the Road gems. They grazed the charts nationally with several singles,('Summer Breeze', 'Work out fine') scoring especially well state wise in South Australia, in the days when different states had their own charts.
'World of Make Believe" should have been a huge hit all over the world, but as with compatriot Renee Geyer's difficulty in being a great black voice in a white body, confusing radio programmers, Stylus did not become international stars. Air Supply and Little River Band, ironically did break through a year or two later, but it seemed that easy listening pop and Middle of the Road rock went down better along side Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles, than the light disco-esque/soulful strains of Stylus.
I am delighted to post this rare Aussie track, and hope that others enjoy it as much as I do. It is a perfect morphing of pop/r&b and the imminent disco style with its orchestrations and sweet vocals. Peter Cupples voice is magical, and he still writes and performs. Enjoy!
