This is Mark Elderkin's 'Buxton Forester' rail tour dated Saturday 15th September 2007. The tour ran from Birmingham International, Crewe, Manchester Piccadilly, Buxton, Sheffield, Leeds, Bradford, Hebden Bridge, Copy Pit, Morcambe, Lancaster, Manchester Piccadilly and back to Birmingham. Here we see Class 40 40145 (top-and-tailed with Class 37 37248) taking the token from just outside the Buxton signal box giving the driver clearance to enter the line heading towards Peak Forest, Chinley and Sheffield. This shot was taken just after the tour had taken a 90 minute break allowing the passengers to stretch their legs to sample the world famous spring waters of Buxton. To allow DMU access to the station, the train reversed into the sidings that we can see at the very beginning of this file. Once again, the Class 40 Preservation Society has staged another impressive rail tour by returning this veteran machine back home on the mainline railway of Britain. Also see my other utube file taken on the same day at Hebden Bridge. John Wantling, Rochdale
