Phillip Sear plays a short piece from 1903 by the French(?) composer Frédéric Binet (c1862-1918). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is not much information to be found on Binet, except that he studied in Paris at the École Niedermeyer, and was director of music for the parish of Saint-Louis in Paris for 25 years. He seems to have also been an active piano teacher, as many of his piano pieces (like this one) are dedicated to pupils. He was also an accompanist, and was reported in 1912 to have accompanied (on a second piano) a 1912 performance of Théodore Dubois' Concerto Cappricioso in Fontainbleu. My thumbnail shows 'A girl at a harpsichord' by the American artist Mather Brown (1761–1831), who emigrated to England and made his career there.
