CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune announced Wednesday he will receive five days of chemotherapy to prevent the potential spread of cancer. "Today, I will be admitted at University Hospital for five days for the first of several cycles of chemotherapy. Now, I always knew this was a possibility in connection with this particular kind of cancer, notwithstanding the fact that the tumor and all evidence of cancer in my body have been removed," he said. Portune's leg was amputated in April after a biopsy confirmed a tumor was a malignant cancer known as connected tissue sarcoma. Portune has suffered from benign spinal cord tumors since 1996. Complications in 2003 hampered his ability to walk and left his left leg partially paralyzed and prone to swelling and blood clots.
