Plans are underway to construct five small dams in Meru County as part of efforts to expand the capacity of Mitunguu Irrigation project to support 25,000 acres from the current 400 acres. National Irrigation Board Chairman Mudzo Nzili when construction of the dams is completed the project will benefit more than 100,000 farmers.
