California couple suspected of being part of a theft ring appear in court

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Two of three people believed to be members of a theft ring, answered to charges in court Friday. Joshua Thompson and Kymani Brown both face charges of receiving stolen property.

According to court papers, the California couple were staying at the Embassy Suites in Blue Ash. Brown told police that Thompson stole several backpacks and laptop bags from a CVS and from the Rookwood area. She says he went out without her and returned with bookbags and purses.

Police say they caught them after officers saw Thompson toss items in a dumpster in West Chester. Bags, backpacks, laptops, a gun stolen from various vehicles throughout the Tri-State.

When Thompson was being booked, an officer recognized a ring he was wearing as being reported stolen.

A judge ordered Thompson held on $7,000 bond. Brown was ordered held on $5,000 for receiving stolen property. She's also charged with prostitution. According to court papers, she was upset when the money she made from that was seized with the stolen items.

A third person, Donnelle Johnson was ordered held on $5,000 bond. He is no longer in jail. Her attorney said she was just staying in the hotel room with her boyfriend and wasn't involved in the thefts.
