The Central Bank of Kenya projects that the economy will this year grow by 6.2 percent supported by a resurgent private sector, public investments in infrastructure as well as a recovery in agriculture. CBK Governor Dr. Patrick Njoroge says he expects financial institutions to advance more credit to the private sector this year due to reduced macro-economic risks. As Nicholas Nduati reports, the central bank is calling for adoption of alternative forms of infrastructure financing such as public private partnerships to ease overreliance on debt financing even as the current account deficit is expected to narrow to 5.4 percent of GDP this year.
