A section of maize farmers at the Bura Irrigation scheme are opting for rice farming or leasing their parcels of land frustrated by delayed payment from the Kenya Seed Company. They claim the situation is so bad that close to 2700 farmers who leased out their farms are now casual laborers in their own farms.
