Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Discover the Hidden Calculation Feature in Microsoft Word. Welcome back to the MrExcel podcast! In this episode, I am joined by Tony Johans from England, who is another word expert. Tony showed me a mind-blowing feature in Word that allows us to do calculations within a table. I was so amazed by this that I had to share it with all of you on the podcast. It's incredibly simple to calculate numbers in a table in Word, just like in Excel. All you need to do is insert a field by going to the "Insert" menu and selecting "Field". Then, click on the "Formula" button and the calculation you want will be automatically inserted for you. It's that easy! And the best part is, if you change any of the numbers in the table, the calculation will automatically update. But if you want to manually update the calculation, simply select the field and press F9. But that's not all, Tony also showed me a handy trick with the "Tools Calculate" feature. We added it to the toolbar and now we can quickly perform any calculation we want, right below the table. For example, we can easily find the square of a number by selecting it and clicking on the "Tools Calculate" button on the status bar. It's amazing how many hidden features are waiting to be discovered in Word. I am always blown away by the expertise of people here at Microsoft. By talking to experts from different groups, we can learn so many amazing things. So thank you, Tony, for showing us how to calculate in Word without having to switch over to Excel. I hope you all found this episode helpful and stay tuned for more exciting tips and tricks on the MrExcel podcast. See you next time!
