Microsoft Excel Tutorial: First Look at Icon Sets, Data Bars, Color Scales in Excel Data Visualization. Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast, where we discuss all things Excel. In today's episode, we're diving into the world of data visualization in Excel 2007. This new version of Excel will be hitting retail shelves in January 2007, but if you're a corporate subscriber with MSDN, you may already have access to it. Check with your IT department to see if you can get your hands on Excel 2007 now! Data visualization is a powerful tool for making sense of large sets of data. It allows you to see trends and patterns that may not be immediately apparent when looking at a sea of numbers. In Excel 2007, data visualization can be found under the Conditional Formatting drop-down on the home Ribbon. With just a few clicks, you can transform your data into easy-to-read charts and graphs. One of the options under Conditional Formatting is Data Bars. This feature allows you to add in-cell bar charts to your data, with the size of the bar representing the value of the cell. This makes it easy to see which numbers are the largest and smallest in your data set. And with live preview, you can see the changes in real-time as you hover over different data bar options. But that's not all - Excel 2007 also offers a Color Scale option under Conditional Formatting. This applies a heat map to your data, with the largest numbers in red and the smallest in green or blue. This is another great way to spot trends and patterns in your data, and have your eye drawn to the most important numbers. So don't forget to explore all the options in Data Visualization to make the most of your data. Thanks for tuning in to today's netcast from MrExcel.
