BUTLER COUNTY -- A Butler County prosecutor who accused infamous groundhog and weather forecaster Punxsutawney Phil of fraud last year will be attending the Groundhog Day festivities with Phil this year in Pennsylvania.Mike Gmoser wanted to sentence Phil to death for predicting an early spring in 2013. Gmoser later dropped his indictment of the creature, and this year he'll be face to face with Phil this Sunday for Groundhog Day.They just felt an obligation to have me come out and invited me to be an observer'', Prosecutor Gmoser told us, ''I'm sort of the appointed watchdog for the groundhog.Gmoser will even have the chance to read a poem he wrote about the woodland weather predictor.
