Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Switching from the Excel 2003 menu to the new Ribbon.

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! If you've recently made the switch to Excel 2007, you may have found yourself frustrated trying to locate the old Excel 2003 commands on the new ribbon. Clicking from tab to tab can be time-consuming and confusing. But don't worry, I've got some tips to help you find those commands quickly and easily.

One method is to right-click on the quick access toolbar and select "customize quick access toolbar." Then, from the left drop-down menu, choose "all commands." This will give you an alphabetical list of every single command in Excel. Simply find the command you're looking for and hover over it to see where it's located on the ribbon. For example, if you're trying to find "Go to special," you'll see that it's located on the "Home" tab in the "Editing" group.

But there's also a handy website that can help you with this task. Office.microsoft.com has an interactive Excel 2003 to Excel 2007 reference guide. Simply start the guide and it will show you the old Excel menu. When you hover over a command, it will show you where it's located on the new ribbon. This is especially helpful for commands that have been moved or renamed. For example, "Go to special" is now located under "Home," "Find and Select," and "Go to." This guide is a great resource for those who are completely lost and need a little extra help navigating the new ribbon.

Two tips for finding an Excel 2003 command on the Excel 2007 ribbon. One is to use the Customize QAT dialog. Pam sends in a cool website from Microsoft that will help you to find the command.
