Presidential initiatives to alleviate household poverty in Rukungiri district are causing mistrust and divisions among district leaders and NRM party mobilizers in the area. 

Peace Rugambwa one of the party Mobilizers in Rukungiri district claims that despite the presidential assignment to fight poverty, her efforts are being sabotaged by Rukungiri district leadership. 

However, Rukungiri RDC Martin Mugabe and the District chairperson Charles Katebere have denied the allegations, instead accusing her of misconduct and extortion from the local residents.
