Solver has been around for a long time and is a great tool for solving complex problems in Excel. However, many users may not be aware of it or have it turned on in their Excel program. In this video, I will show you how to turn on Solver and use it to solve a real-life problem. So, if you're ready to learn, let's get started!

In this video, we will be using Solver to solve a staffing problem for an amusement park. We need to figure out how many employees to schedule for each day of the week, taking into account that everyone works five consecutive days. This may seem like a daunting task, but with Solver, we can easily find the optimal solution in just a few clicks.

To use Solver, we need to have an objective cell that we want to minimize or maximize, a range of input cells, and constraints. In our case, the objective cell is the total payroll, the input cells are the number of employees for each schedule, and the constraints are that the total number of employees must be greater than or equal to the required number for each day. We also need to specify that the input cells must be integers and cannot have negative values.

Once we have set up our problem in Solver, we can click on the Solve button and let the program do its magic. In just a few seconds, Solver will find the optimal solution for us, which in this case is a total payroll of $2040. However, there may be other solutions that are just as good, or even better, so we can use our knowledge of the problem to tweak the solution and potentially improve it.
