Where else but the East Lancashire Railway and here we have Class 40 40145 coming to a halt for the benefit of the cameras with the engineman (Dave Peacock) climbing out to call the signalman for clearance. The engine had just emerged from Buckley Wells shed after a rapid repaint into large logo, followed by a groundbreaking ceremony when 40145 was graced with the 'East Lancashire Railway' nameplate and which can be seen on the side of the loco. And what a good-looker she is regardless of the fact that the Class 40 Preservation Society is using a certain amount of poetic licence in the new livery as no Class 40 was ever painted in this way. So this is an historical non-fact but it is certainly not an optical illusion! The CFPS seem to think that this is an example of poetry in motion, and perhaps they have a licence to make a point. The location is Bury Bolton Street and the date is Wednesday 25th July 2007. More images can be found of a similar nature on Derek Gordon's excellent Fotopic website.
