Microsoft Excel Tutorial:  Master Freeze Panes in Excel: Keep Rows & Columns Visible with This Tutorial!

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In this video, we'll be discussing how to use freeze panes in Excel. Freeze panes is a useful tool for keeping headings at the top of a report while scrolling through the rest of the data. But what if you also want to freeze headings at the left of the report? That's where the WINDOW command comes in.

To freeze panes at both the top and left of the report, simply go to WINDOW, FREEZE PANES. This will freeze everything above the current cell, allowing you to scroll through the rest of the data while still keeping the headings visible. However, if the headings are taking up too much space, you can use the WINDOW, UNFREEZE PANES command and then use the arrow keys to scroll to the desired location before freezing panes again.

But what if you need to scroll to the right and still want to see a specific column, such as the customer column? No problem! You can use freeze panes in other columns besides column A. Simply go to the desired cell, such as G6, and use the WINDOW, FREEZE PANES command. This will allow you to scroll both vertically and horizontally while still keeping the desired column visible.

It's important to note that freezing panes does not affect the printout. If you want the headings to print at the top or left of every page, you'll need to use the FILE, PAGE SETUP command. From there, you can specify which rows and columns you want to repeat on each page. And that's it for this video!
