SPRINGDALE, Ohio (WKRC) - Investigators are looking for an arsonist who threw a firebomb into the home of an 89-year-old.

Several people saw the man drive up to the Springdale house. No one was hurt, but it has neighbors wondering why he did it.

"He got out of his truck, ran up here and threw it through. He threw it through her window! Oh my goodness," said a witness on a 911 call.

Neighbors couldn't believe what they had just witnessed.

The woman has lived in her home for 61 years, and Sunday night someone set her home on fire.

"I mean, she's just such a nice lady, and I was just so happy to see that she was OK and don't know why anybody would pick her out of anybody to do anything like that," said neighbor Cyndi Shane.

Grandin Avenue in Springdale is peaceful and, in general, neighbors look out for each other.

Neighbor Anthony Braxton says he's had conversations with the woman and she's always friendly.

"Some people do it more than others, but this neighborhood is pretty quiet. Hell, I can leave my car unlocked and leave tools outside and none of them would go missing," Braxton said.

The woman was having dinner with her son. Her son came out of the house after the object was tossed through the window and scared off the suspect. He was able to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher in the house.

People who saw him described him as a white man in his fifties. He had a tall, thin build with short, gray hair. He also had a goatee and was wearing a navy blue jacket with silver stripes on the sleeves and blue jeans.

Police say he left in an '80s or '90s Dodge Dakota that was silver or light blue. Neighbors want to see him caught.

Braxton said, "If you just go up to a random person's house and do it, that's outlandish. See what I'm saying? I just don't understand it."
