The South African Reserve Bank is holding its first rates meeting for 2018 this week. The Monetary Policy Committee will deliberate on whether to hike the repo rate or keep it unchanged. Inflation in South Africa has so far remained well within the Bank's target band of 3-6%. But most economists expect the MPC will remain cautious for a while longer and keep rates on hold.
