Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast where we discuss all things Excel. In this episode, we will be talking about entering teams in the NCAA bracket for March Madness. For those of you who are not familiar, March Madness is the men's college national championship in the United States. It involves 64 teams competing in a bracket-style tournament over the course of three weeks. It's a time of excitement and friendly competition as offices and friends gather to fill out their brackets and see who can predict the winners.

If you haven't already, be sure to download my NCAA bracket at MrExcel.com/NCAA.html. Once you have your bracket filled out, the next step is to enter your picks into a spreadsheet. This can be a tedious process, especially if you have a large group participating. However, I have a solution that will make it quick and easy for you. In this video, I will be sharing a macro that I created to streamline the process of entering teams in the bracket.

The spreadsheet I have created is designed to make it easy for the commissioner to enter everyone's picks. It is a wide spreadsheet with all 63 games scheduled across the top and the names of the participants listed down the side. The first round is fairly straightforward as most people tend to choose the higher seeded team. However, as we get into the later rounds, there may be more upsets and it can become confusing to keep track of who chose which team. That's where my macro comes in handy.

With just a keystroke, my macro allows you to toggle between the two teams in a game. This makes it easy to enter the correct team for each participant. The spreadsheet also has formulas in place to ensure that the correct teams are entered in the later rounds based on the earlier picks. This eliminates the risk of human error and ensures that the bracket is accurate.
