The mother of a young woman killed, run over by a train, testified in court Friday. Lisa Barnes said she didn't know her underage daughter drank.Toxicology reports show Hannah Barnes and her co-worker, Michael Hennen, had been drinking the night they died. Hannah's mother is suing Hennen's restaurant, saying they gave her daughter the alcohol. Lisa Barnes said Hannah wouldn't have died if she hadn't been drinking the night of her death. However a forensic expert testified Friday that their blood samples appear to be unreliable. Doctor Alphonse Poklis said it is common to have mishaps in blood samples, especially for a mangled body. He believes the blood alcohol samples taken from Hannah Barnes and Michael Hennen were unreliable based on the conditions of their bodies. The vessel of the heart itself was not exposed to be sure that any of the heart was in tact. and the blood, the specimen was actually coming from one of the chambers of the heart, said Dr. Poklis. A former manager for Hennen's testified earlier in the trial that he would occasionally let the kitchen staff have a drink on the house, but says he did not give Barnes alcohol the night she died. Friday, the defense asked Hannah's mother if she and Hannah argued that night. Lisa Barnes said they had texted back and forth but she couldn't remember exactly what they had said. The defense attorney for Hennen's also pointed out that Hannah, who was 19 when she died, had two ID's -- her correct driver's license and another ID showing she was 21-years-old. The trail will continue on Tuesday. Depend on us to bring you the latest as this trial moves forward.
