Microsoft Excel Tutorial - How to Format Page Numbers on a Landscape Sheet in Excel | Excel Tips & Tricks.

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast where we share tips and tricks for using Excel. In this video, we'll be discussing how to properly format page numbers for a landscape sheet in a workbook with multiple worksheets. This is a common issue that many users face when trying to print out a report with a mix of portrait and landscape pages.

So, let's say you have a workbook with several worksheets and you want to print them all out as a report. However, one of the sheets is in landscape orientation and the page number ends up on the right edge instead of at the bottom where it should be. This can be frustrating, but we have a great trick for solving this problem.

First, we need to figure out how many rows will fit on the landscape page. To do this, we can use the PRINT PREVIEW feature and adjust the page to fit 1 page wide by 1 page tall. This will give us an accurate view of the page layout. Then, we can click on ADJUST TO and change the percentage until the bottom row of data is visible. This will give us the exact number of rows that will fit on the page.

Next, we need to insert a new column on the landscape sheet and enter the correct page number in the first cell. Then, we can select all the cells in that column and go to FORMAT, CELLS. On the ALIGNMENT tab, we can choose to MERGE CELLS and change the orientation to -90 degrees. This will rotate the page number so that it appears at the bottom of the page. We can also adjust the bottom margin in PAGE SETUP to 0 to ensure that the page number fits properly.

Now, when we do a PRINT PREVIEW, we can see that the page number appears at the bottom of the landscape page, just like any other portrait page. This is a simple and effective solution for formatting page numbers on a landscape sheet in a multi-worksheet workbook.
