Phillip Sear plays a charming 'dance of the little bells' from an 1899 'Suite de Ballet' by the Russian composer Vladimir Rebikov (1866-1920).

The life of the Russian composer Vladimir Rebikov (1866-1920) is well described here: http://www.pytheasmusic.org/rebikov.html . The 'Suite de Ballet', as well Rebikov's Op. 11 'melo-mimics' (and a single piece from Op. 2) are based on the the fairy-story 'Mila and Nolli' (Mila i Nolli) by Nikolai. P. Wagner, who wrote under the pseudonym of "Kot-Murlyka." I quote from an Amazon description of the Russian book: "Mila and her friend Nolli come to the island of the beautiful and carefree fairy Lazura. But this world of universal fun and eternal celebration quickly tires the heroes. They understand that, having left the island, they will find themselves in a cruel and unfriendly world. They are faced with a choice: to live in the “intoxicating fumes” of Lazura’s world, or to return to a world that has already rejected them once ...". I'm not sure if Rebikov wrote a complete ballet or other stage work based on the story. The various pieces in the sets vary from fairly generic late-romantic movements to modernistic pieces that look forward to Stravinsky' ballets and beyond. This dance is very much in the classical 'Nutcracker' mould of Russian ballet music.
