Microsoft Excel Tutorial - Discover the Easiest Way to Find Recent Records in Excel .

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In today's episode, we're going to revisit a previous topic from episode 614 where we were trying to find a unique list of customers based on their most recent record. Thanks to a helpful tip from Richard Potts from England, we have discovered a much easier solution to this problem. So let's dive in and learn how to find recent records in Excel.

First, we need to sort our data in descending order based on the date column. This will automatically bring the most recent records to the top. Then, we will use the Advanced Filter feature by going to Data and selecting Filter. Make sure to only select the customer column and choose the option to filter the list in-place. This will give us a list of unique customers with their most recent record.

Next, we will copy and paste this data into a new workbook, and Excel will automatically paste only the visible rows. This gives us a clean and concise list of the most recent records for each customer.
