Microsoft Excel Tutorial: a Quick Way to Jump through a long list of items in the Excel Filter drop-down.

Welcome back to another MrExcel netcast! In today's episode, we have a great tip sent in by one of our frequent contributors, Joe Martin. We were discussing auto filter a few weeks ago, and Joe mentioned a cool trick that we didn't cover. Have you ever struggled with navigating through a long list of unique values in auto filter? Well, Joe has a solution for that.

Instead of using the slider to scroll through the list, Joe suggests typing the first letter of the value you're looking for. For example, if you're trying to find the "Ls", simply type "L" and the list will instantly jump to that section. From there, you can easily scroll through the "Ls" and find the value you need. This trick also works with other letters, making it a quick and efficient way to navigate through long lists.

But that's not all! Joe also shared a few other navigation shortcuts for auto filter. While the list is open, you can use the page up and page down keys to move through the list, or the home and end keys to go to the beginning or end of the list. These shortcuts can save you time and frustration when working with large data sets.

I hope you found this tip helpful and thank you to Joe for sharing it with us. And as always, thank you for tuning in to the MrExcel netcast.
