Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In this episode, we're going to tackle a common Excel problem that many of us have encountered - the mysterious appearance of an exact copy of our spreadsheet to the right of the original. How did it get there? And more importantly, how do we get rid of it? Let's dive in and find out.

I recently received a call from my brother-in-law, who was experiencing this exact issue. He had somehow managed to split his Excel window, resulting in two identical copies of his worksheet. Not only that, but any changes made on one side would also appear on the other. After some troubleshooting, we discovered that he had accidentally used the "split" command, which is located in the "View" tab in Excel 2007 (or "Window" tab in Excel 2003). This feature allows you to split your window into two panes, which can be useful in certain situations, but can also cause confusion if activated unintentionally.

Now, I must admit, I am a big fan of the "Freeze Panes" feature in Excel, but I have never found a reason to use "split". So, I want to hear from all of you split enthusiasts out there - what do you use it for? Is it for large spreadsheets, or do you have a specific use case where it comes in handy?
