Next up, if you live in East Hamilton County, you won't have to drive as far to get to the ER. Erlanger East has opened a new 24/7 emergency center in East Brainerd. Even before the ribbon was cut Monday, patients were already checking into the new $7.8 million dollar facility for treatment. Hospital officials say the high demand for an ER in East Hamilton County is what makes this opening so special. Erlanger says the new 22 thousand-square-foot center will help clear up Erlanger's downtown emergency rooms and fill a gap between Cleveland and East Ridge. Officials estimate 15,000 people will visit the new emergency room during its first year.
