First of all, two hundred Tennessee teachers at risk of getting fired. Four thousand Georgia children unable to get vaccines. Twenty-seven thousand federal employees in Alabama facing furloughs.
For the first time, states are beginning to understand what the sequestration will mean, as the White House warns of painful spending cuts and real-life consequences.
Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama will face a combined $861 million dollars in reductions and $53 million dollar loss in education funding.
Casualties may include public health initiatives, work-study jobs and environmental projects. And worries of a nationwide economic slide are the talk of Washington.
Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam says he fears the cuts could delay toxic-waste cleanup indefinitely at Oak Ridge, saying quote "This is not a smart way to do government."

Next up, the mother of a missing Ooletwah soldier says her son's body has been found in the Tennessee River.
Bradley Rogers' mother said Hamilton County detectives confirmed the victim was her son and that foul play is suspected.
Rogers, an Army specialist who was home on leave from deployment overseas, was last seen February 3rd at the Electric Cowboy nightclub in Chattanooga.
Two fishermen found the body Saturday afternoon near Raccoon Mountain.

Turning to education, nearly a third of school leaders in Hamilton County will have a big decision to make by the end of the next school year. They'll be eligible for retirement.
Their decisions will have a major impact on the school system. If the 43 eligible administrators choose to retire, they could leave behind a leadership vacuum that would be difficult to fill.
To begin to address the problem, officials are now creating a program aimed at identifying more people to fill leadership positions long before they become vacant.

Next up, summer will be here before you know it, and so will SoakYa, Lake Winnie's new five-acre water park.
Work is well under way on the park, which will include an adventure river, beach lagoon, seven slides and three swimming pools.
Construction should be completely finished May 3rd, and the grand opening is scheduled May 24th.

And finally, an unlikely sport made it big in Chattanooga over the weekend: snowboarding.
Despite temperatures in the 50s, the Mellow Mushroom pizza restaurant in East Brainerd hosted a snowboarding competition called the Chattanooga Rail Jam.
Six tons of ice were chopped into snow for the event and organizers built a 10-foot slope in the middle of the parking lot. No need to worry if you missed it: organizers say they want to see events like this several times a year.
