CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A reanalysis of numbers from a recent survey shows that the number of adults in the United States has actually gone up.

A second look at these numbers in the Journal of the American Medical Association's "National Health and Nutrition Examination" survey shows a different result from previous numbers announced just a few weeks ago.

The study originally reported a decline in the number of adults trying to lose weight over the past 30 years, but the journal issued a retraction Tuesday. The numbers apparently increased from 56 to 58 percent by the end of the study period.

Reportedly, there was some confusion over a change in how the survey asked the question about weight loss attempts beginning in 1999.
