Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Boost Your Excel Workflow with Tear-Off Palettes | Learn Excel Tips & Tricks. Welcome to another episode of MrExcel's Learn Excel series. In today's video, we're going to talk about a cool trick that has been around for a while but is often overlooked. It's called tear-off palettes and it's available on many of the toolbars in Excel. If you open up a drop-down menu, such as the Font Color drop-down, you'll notice a row of dots at the top. By clicking on these dots, you can tear off the palette and float it above your spreadsheet. This allows you to have quick and easy access to the palette without having to constantly open and close it. There are dozens and dozens of palettes that you can tear off, including the Fill Color palette. This is especially useful if you need to quickly change the fill color of multiple cells. Just tear off the palette, float it above your spreadsheet, and you can easily select a cell and change its color. But it's not just limited to color palettes. All of the AutoShapes palettes are also tear-off palettes. This means you can float them above your spreadsheet and easily select and draw different shapes without having to constantly open and close the palette. When you're done using the palette, simply click the X and it will disappear. This is a great time-saving trick that can make your Excel experience even more efficient.
