The Tennessee Senate has passed a bill allowing guns in parks. Under the legislation, cities and counties would lose their ability to ban firearms from local parks, playgrounds and ball fields. Andy Berke and the mayors of Tennessee's other largest cities have objected to the legislation. But the bill's sponsor, Senator Stacey Campfield, says that right now permit holders are confused because local ordinances differ across the state. In Knoxville, he says visitors can go armed on the county portion of the greenway while they can't on the city portion. Now the measure heads to the Tennessee House. If passed, the bill will take effect - July 1st.
