Written by City News Service - A woman alleged to have been drunk was reported to have
crashed her SUV into a restaurant in Norwalk this morning, but no one was hurt.
The crash at 13220 San Antonio Drive just north of Firestone Boulevard
was reported at 12:30 a.m., according to Los Angeles County Fire Department
dispatch supervisor Andre Gougis.
The restaurant is called Curly Jones Cafe, according to a watch sergeant
at the Los Angeles County sheriff's Norwalk Station who did not immediately
have any booking information about the driver.
The SUV punched a hole in the restaurant's front wall, damaging two
windows and sustaining heavy body damage, but bounced back without penetrating
the eatery, a news photographer reported from the scene.
No injuries were reported, Gougis said.
A man who identified himself as the son of the restaurant owner but who
would not give his name said in a telephone interview that the business was
closed at the time of the crash and would not open this morning because of the
damage.
Sheriff's investigators told him the driver of the SUV was drunk and
lost control of the vehicle, he said. LOUDLABS NEWS
