Feb 14, 2014. Brownish nipple discharge in swollen breasts, a painful lower abdomen and spinal area in T9-11. There was a probable vaginal bleeding 2 months ago as evident by continuous licking of the vulva. Two blood tests 6 days apart revealed only higher % of neutrophils but otherwise the results were normal. The dog was given an IV drip and antibiotics and two daily antibiotic injections since she would not eat antibiotics. She was more alert but would not eat at home. Why? My explanation is that she has false pregnancy with its hormonal imblance and pyometra, so she did not feel well. So she ate very little at home. But she was more alert now after dental scaling yesterday. She now permitted her mouth to be opened unlike the day before dental work. Spaying is advised some 7-14 days later after a course of antibiotics. The problem is that the elderly couple could not give her the liquid antibiotics as she would swing her head away.
