Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Master Data Analysis in Excel with Named Lists | Excel Guru Tips. Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In this episode, we're going to dive into the world of named lists and how they can make your data analysis in Excel a whole lot easier. As always, I'm your host Bill Jelen and I'm excited to share this useful tip with you. Now, I know it's Friday and you're probably expecting a Dueling podcast, but things have been a bit hectic around here and I didn't have a chance to set up with Mike. So for this episode, you're stuck with just me. But don't worry, I have something special to share with you - the MrExcel bubble tumbler! It just arrived yesterday and it features our classic logo along with a tag cloud of 100 Excel terms. If you can name all of them, you are officially an Excel Guru. And if you want one of these awesome tumblers on your desk, just shoot me an email at [email protected]. The first 10 people from the US to write in will receive one for free! Now, let's move on to today's question from Ed. He wants to know if there's a way to use the INDEX function without having to put the weekdays in the sheet. Well, the answer is yes! We can actually embed the weekdays as a named range using array syntax. Simply select the reference, press F9 to convert it into array syntax, copy the characters onto the clipboard, and define a name in the Name Manager. Then, you can use the INDEX function with the named range to easily retrieve the data you need. How cool is that? I hope you found this tip helpful and will start using named lists in your own Excel projects. Thanks for tuning in to this netcast from MrExcel.
