Cyclone Haruna has put on a good spurt of intensification in the past 12 hours, and has now attained hurricane-force winds as it stalls in the Mozambique Channel. Haruna is expected to reach Category 2 strength (110mph) before striking southern Madagascar and moving out to sea. Those who live on the southern half of Madagascar should prepare for strong winds towards the southwest, and flooding, particularly if the storm moves over land slowly.
