Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Excel Chart Tips: Adding and Removing Data with Drag and Drop Method | MrExcel Podcast.

Welcome back to the MrExcel podcast! I'm Bill Jelen and for the past few weeks, I've been traveling and conducting my Power Excel seminars. One of the best things about these seminars is that I always learn something new from the 150 accountants in the room. So, for the next week, I'll be sharing some tips from my book and also showing you some new and improved ways of performing certain tasks in Excel.

In my book, I shared a great trick for adding new data to a chart. All you have to do is select the new data, including the headings, click on the border, and drag and drop it onto the chart. But what about removing data from a chart? Well, during one of my seminars, someone shared a fantastic tip with me. If you look at the blue outline surrounding the data set, you can click on one of the handles and adjust the chart area. This means you don't have to drag and drop data onto the chart anymore. Instead, you can simply select the chart, grab the area surrounding the data being charted, and use the handles to extend or reduce the charted area.

So, the next time you need to add new data to a chart, just click on the data and drag the blue handle to include more data. It's a quick and easy way to update your chart without having to go through the process of dragging and dropping. Thanks for stopping by and be sure to tune in tomorrow for another helpful tip from MrExcel! Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more Excel tips and tricks. See you soon!
