Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Excel Prank: Remove Toolbar Items for April Fool's Day.

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast, where we bring you all the latest tips and tricks for mastering Excel. As we approach the release of Excel 2007, I can't help but feel a little nostalgic for some of the features we will be saying goodbye to. One of those features is the infamous April Fool's Day prank that has been a favorite among Excel users for years.

In this week's episode, we're going to show you how to pull off this classic prank before it's too late. As we've been discussing in our previous episodes, customizing your toolbar is a great way to personalize your Excel experience. But did you know that you can also remove items from the toolbar? That's right, you can take an entire menu item and drag it off the toolbar, leaving your unsuspecting colleague with nothing but the Help button.

But be warned, these changes are permanent and can cause quite a panic if the person doesn't know how to fix it. So before you pull this prank, make sure you know the antidote. To get the toolbar back, simply right click and choose Customize, then go to the Toolbars tab and click Reset. Trust me, your colleague will thank you for it.

Unfortunately, this prank will no longer be possible in Excel 2007 as the ability to customize toolbars by dragging and dropping has been removed. So don't wait until April Fool's Day, pull this prank now before your boss upgrades to Excel 2007 on January 30th. And don't worry, we won't tell them it was our idea.
