Microsoft Excel Tutorial - Discover Excel's Hidden Filter by Selection Feature | Excel Tips & Tricks. Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In today's episode, we're going to dive into the world of Excel filters once again. In a previous episode, I showed you a cool macro that allowed you to filter by selection. However, I was unaware that Excel actually had a built-in feature for this. Thanks to a helpful viewer, Reba, I discovered that there is a button for Filter by Selection in the Customize menu under the Data category. To access this feature, simply go to Tools, Customize, and select the Data category. You'll see the option for Auto Filtering, which is actually the Filter by Selection feature. Make sure to also add the Show All button to your toolbar for easy access. Now, all you have to do is select a cell and click the Filter button to filter by that selection. You can then use the Show All button to reset the filter and choose a different selection to filter by. I have to admit, I was completely unaware of this feature and I'm sure many of you were as well. It's a much more intuitive and efficient way to filter your data in Excel. So, a big thank you to Reba for bringing this to our attention. As a token of our appreciation, we'll be sending you an Excel Master Pin for your beautiful observation. And to all our viewers, thank you for tuning in and we'll see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel. Don't forget to hit that like button and subscribe for more Excel tips and tricks.
