The Shining Willow is a shrubby-looking tree that grows up to 9 meters tall. The flowers of this plant are inconspicuous; it blooms from March to May, producing seeds attached to cotton-like structures called catkins that are dispersed by the wind in a way similar to dandelion seeds. This tree grows at a moderate to rapid pace and requires soil that is occasionally flooded or perpetually sodden. Willows are very well suited to California's riparian habitats. The Shining Willow can grow in various elevations up to 2.5 km. Its seeds are only viable for 3-5 days which sounds like a very short window of time to me.
