Sexy Low Back Chair Prototype - 5. Seat & Leg Profiles, and Seat Shaping In the fifth video of this series, I cut the seat and leg profiles, and then shape the scooped seat. For those interested, I am using a Kutzall Carving Dish Wheel, or 'donut', for the main stock removal when scooping the seat. An adze and/or scorp would make less dust, but the cutting action of the 'donut' produces much less severe tearout in this wood. Of course I need to wear my dust protection, and sweep the shop up afterwards! I've made a start on creating a set of free plans for this chair. So keep an eye out for a video on those in the future. // If you saw the Sexy Low Back Chair Maquette video (http://youtu.be/VBQbkU8Q598), you will know that I have been designing a sexy low back chair for a couple of months. I was pretty pleased with the model I made, and decided to create a full scale prototype. Not liking waste, and having a stack of reclaimed timber from packing crates and pallets cluttering up the place, they seemed like the obvious material to use. // Watch out for the next video.
