The heavy construction is FINALLY OVER — and now my vision for this place is starting to become reality!

Welcome back to my Building a Business From Scratch series.

The flooring is finished, the baseboards are done, the washrooms are ready, the AC is working, the security system and cameras are up, and now we're moving into the next phase: FILLING THIS PLACE WITH PRODUCT!

The family is here helping me clean, organize and get everything ready. I've started putting out the puzzles, merchandise is arriving, and people walking past the store are already stopping and asking when they can buy something!

We're shooting for a Canada Day soft opening, and there's still a LOT to do.

I've got more grid walls to install, shelves to fill, inventory to enter, orders to unpack and hopefully my display counters arrive in time. Those counters are going to be a huge part of the game store because they'll give me a secure area for all the smaller and more valuable merchandise.

And Rosie's side?

Her Filipino food store is basically DONE!

The freezers are working, the AC is running and now we're waiting for the FOOD to arrive. What started as an idea for two businesses under one roof is finally becoming real.

I've also got the cash drawer and thermal receipt printer working. Next I need to get the company logo and business information onto the receipts so everything looks professional when customers start coming through the door.

After all the demolition, drywall, painting, flooring, electrical work, ceiling work, cleanup and unexpected problems, we're finally past construction.

Now it's about PRODUCT.

My vision is coming together exactly how I pictured it.
