Half way through 2017, here are the best movies of 2017 so far. You may notice that for a best films of the year list, our favorites movies are either action movies or horror movies. That doesn't mean we don't like gripping, award winning dramas... it just means that those films tend to come out late in the year to increase their chances during awards season. Right now, we just have a mix of great summer movies and some early surprises that no one expected to be nearly as good as they were, including M. Night Shaymanlan's thriller SPLIT and Jordan Peele's directorial debut GET OUT. In addition to those titles we also really loved movies that most people expected, or at least, wanted to be good including John Wick 2, Logan, Baby Driver, Wonder Woman, and Lego Batman.

What are your favorite films of 2017? Do you think all of these films will survive until the end of the year to make it on our top 10 movies of 2017? Or will the lower ranked movies get bumped by some great films yet to some out?
