Bank of Uganda now backs proposed 0.5% tax rate on Mobile Money

Bank of Uganda has backtracked on its earlier stance against the 0.5% tax on mobile money. While appearing before Parliament’s Finance Committee, Governor Bank of Uganda Governor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile and State minister of Finance David Bahati said that they had harmonized their positions and agreed to support the tax. Meanwhile the committee will present its report on the tax on Thursday next week.
