Written by the late great Otha Young and Juice Newton, 'Sweet Sweet Smile' was a minor hit for the superstar siblings Richard and Karen Carpenter in 1978. The song was taken from their 1977 LP 'Passage'. Falling short of the Top 40 in America, the tune reached #33 in Canada; #40 in Britain and pathetically in Australia registered for 2 weeks at #100!!!!!! It is such a joyous song and beautifully produced and performed by the pair, but interestingly it was not to be one of their most memorable nor successful singles. Perhaps this was in part due to it being the 3rd single from that LP, that featured the more distinctive and enduring classic: 'Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft'. Anyhoo, enjoy the sweet sweet vocals of the one and only Karen Carpenter.
