Constitutional court dismisses 2010 polygamy petition

The Constitutional Court has dismissed a Petition challenging the legality of polygamy. The petition, was filed in 2010 by an Non-Governmental Organisation called MIFUMI, on the grounds that polygamy is violation of both the Constitution and Human Rights. Muslim lawyers have welcomed the decision made by court saying that the petition threatened to violate the religious right of muslim men.
