Microsoft Excel Tutorial - Fixing Wrap Text Issues: Copying Data from Webpages to Excel | MrExcel Netcast.

Welcome back to another MrExcel netcast! In today's episode, we're going to discuss a common issue that arises when copying and pasting data from a webpage into Excel. Whether you're using a simple copy and paste method or a web query, the table settings on the webpage can cause some problems when the data is transferred to Excel.

As you can see, when I copied and pasted some information from my bank's webpage, it turned on the Wrap text feature for all of the cells. This can be frustrating because it makes the rows taller and the data harder to read. But don't worry, there's an easy fix for this.

To turn off the Wrap text feature, we need to select all of the data and go to the Format Cells dialog box. On the Alignment tab, you'll see a 3-state setting for Wrap text. The first click will turn it on for all cells, the second click will turn it off for all cells, and the third click will turn it off for some cells and on for others. Once you've selected the desired setting, click OK.

In Excel 2007, Microsoft made things even easier by promoting the Wrap text button to the ribbon. Now, with just one click, you can turn off the Wrap text feature without having to go to the Format Cells dialog box. This is a great time-saving feature for those who frequently copy and paste data from webpages into Excel.

So there you have it, a simple solution to a common problem. Don't let the table settings on a webpage mess up your data in Excel. Just remember to turn off the Wrap text feature and your data will be displayed neatly in the cells.
