A very common question asked by patients is whether they can stop medication or insulin after they attain targets. This is a myth or misconception most of the patients have. What I would advise is to stick on to the medication unless they have complications like hypoglycemia or some contra indications like some gastro intestinal side effects like vomiting, etc. Otherwise the medication has to be taken.. Insulin is very very valuable, especially when the sugars are high or when the HbA1c is more than 9, patients are advised to take insulin. Insulin is the only substance or drug that can reduce the sugars and by reducing the sugar, the patient is benefited because they can prevent a lot of complications.. There are many new injectible devices with very fine needles that are painless. Its easy for the patients to stick on to insulin with these devices..
