Microsoft Excel Tutorial:  Learn how to Translate Foreign Languages in Excel.

Welcome back to another episode of the MrExcel netcast! It's currently a frigid day here in Ohio, with temperatures well below zero and schools closed for the second day in a row. But that won't stop us from learning a new Excel tip! Today, we're going to explore the Translate feature in Excel 2007.

This feature may seem familiar to those who have used online translation services like Babel Fish. But now, it's available right within Excel. Simply select a cell with text in a foreign language, go to the Review tab on the ribbon, and click on Translate. A task pane will appear on the right side of the screen, allowing you to choose the language you want to translate from and to.

While this feature is convenient, it does have its limitations. For example, it can only translate one cell at a time, so if you have a large amount of text to translate, it may be a bit time-consuming. Additionally, the translations may not be perfect, as it uses a service called WorldLingo which may not be as accurate as other translation services. However, it's still a useful tool for getting a rough translation of foreign text in a spreadsheet.

I have a feeling that this feature will continue to improve in future versions of Excel. But for now, it's a handy tool to have for those moments when you need a quick translation.
