A senior government official has said that the increasing crime rate in the region is being accelerated by the proliferation of illegal firearms.

The revelation by the Director of the Government the Analytical laboratory Kepher Kuchan Kateu, came during a sensitisation meeting on the ratification of the arms trade treaty.
