Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Analyzing Excel Podcast Numbering Scheme.

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In today's episode, we're discussing a question that was sent in by none other than myself. As Thanksgiving approaches, I've been wondering whether or not to continue with our usual podcast numbering scheme. Do we keep up the podcast for tomorrow just to maintain the numbering, or is that just a silly reason? To answer this question, I decided to analyze all the air dates and episode numbers using a PivotTable.

In this Excel #898 episode, we're using Excel 2007 to create a PivotTable and analyze the data. I've grouped the data by year and used the new formatting options in Excel 2007 to make the table more visually appealing. After some analysis, I've come to the conclusion that our numbering scheme has worked out perfectly for about 51 to 52 weeks, but there have been times where it was off by 1 or 2 weeks. So, based on this data, I've decided to take Thursday and Friday off for Thanksgiving.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank Leo Laporte for suggesting the MrExcel podcast and offering to help make it a part of the Twit Network. I'm also proud to say that we've been ahead of the daily Giz Wiz podcast in terms of episode counts, and I don't want them to catch up anytime soon. So, even though they started a few months after us, we're still 90 episodes ahead of them. I want to thank everyone in the United States who's celebrating Thanksgiving and wish them a great holiday. And to all our listeners, thank you for making MrExcel a resounding success over the past 10 years. We'll be taking Friday off and will be back on Monday with another netcast. See you then!
