http://www.mobiscrub.com/Reviews/Smartphone/Samsung/Galaxy-Note-800 User Interface on the Galaxy Note 10.1 The Samsung Galaxy Note comes loaded with Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) with official promises from Samsung to release the Jelly Bean update soon. However, for now ICS is layered on top with Samsung's own and dear, TouchWiz. I personally don't like touchwiz too much, but it does bring slight additional functionalities to the overall experience of using Android. The UI is very similar to what we have seen in previous version of TouchWiz and almost tablet equivalent of the recent Galaxy S III. With features like Pop-Up play, Smart Stay, Motion gestures and layout, the Galaxy Note 10.1 has almost replicated the S III and maintained the consistency. When you release the S-Pen from its chamber, a tray with quick S-Pen based shortcuts opens at the right edge of the screen. There is also a tray at the bottom of the screen, which provides quick and easy access to a couple of applications most frequently used. You can obviously define the apps that you would quick access to. There are moments when I felt that the UI is slightly laggy and jitters. I was not too happy about that specially given the expectation I had with the quad core processor along with 2 GB of RAM. However, the device does not fail in delivering high performance when playing heavy high definition games (such as Nova 3, Temple Run and/or Angry Birds HD). So it isin't really a deal breaker, but I would certainly expect more from this and I hope that with future Jelly Bean updates this issue would be resolved. (I mostly would want to blame TouchWiz for this performance :P ). Overall ICS runs great and looks good on the Note 10.1. With great potential in the Note 10.1 and a promising Jelly Bean update, this surely stands candidate to be the tablet of the Year! http://www.mobiscrub.com/Reviews/Smartphone/Samsung/Galaxy-Note-800
